When I was a kid my dad always told me to dream something beautiful when tucking me in. I didn't get this then, I can't control what I dream about. But it's more general life advice: spend your time so that you have beautiful dreams. When I travel I often sleep better in a hostel bunk bed then I sleep at home, because I was out all day, had real experiences, have something to dream about.

Adjacent but not directly to the point of the article, does anyone remember their dreams or have success with lucid dreaming?
After about a year of trying I can remember at least some dreams most nights, but zero success with lucidity.

I seem to remember every dream every night. Last night I had a dream in which I had a dream and then was telling someone in the dream about the nested dream. Sometimes I'm able to deduce that I'm in a dream even to the point of telling other people in the dream that it's a dream but I haven't reached the point where I'm aware that I might be able to control outcomes.
FWIW I also often wake up exhausted by my dreams and require a nap after breakfast in which I often dream more as I did this morning.
